I haven't been able to find anything like this yet, so I'm gonna try to put together a list of differences between the Wii and Switch versions of the game.
This may not be the most accurate thing in the world. I spent at least 100 hours playing the Wii version and have only played the Switch one for about a day. It's also been 3 or 4 years since I played the Wii version. Also, many of these probably won't make sense to those who haven't played both versions. When making your character, you no longer have the ability to input your name in-game. Your character's name is the same as your switch profile name.Daily log in bonuses are now a thing. I don't think they restrict any content you could freely unlock in the wii version. It seems like it's all new stuff, like costumes and dog breeds. This one's a bit silly, but the loading screen has changed.
You used to be able to cover the screen with cute little dog icon stamps, but now it shows game hints and tips.It looks like there may be some new vehicle customization options. I don't think you could unlock new ones in the wii version, but the option is there now.Getting keys is completely changed. There used to be silver keys (recieved when beating mini-games) and gold keys (recieved for things like stunt jumps or interacting with certain things in the open world).
Now there are only silver keys. You get silver keys through a level up system now. I'm not 100% sure how the gold key unlockables work yet.The level up system is brand new. The game is filled with ways to gain points. They didn't really have a purpose on the wii, but now it seems they act as experience (I think?
Not sure on this one.). Completing mini-games helps you level up, as does completing certain challenges in the open world. Stuff like, 'played with x player for y hours'. The stunt jump challenges don't seem to exist anymore.Controls are different now. You can choose between the old motion controls and new button only controls. You still have to shake the remotes for some things, like whistling or doing tricks.Hint and tip screens are new. I mentioned them earlier, but they get another shout out because they include maps showing where certain things are in the open world.
Things like photo spots or treasure chests. There's an animal photo album now. There are tons more animals around the open world than there were in the wii version. You can take pictures of all of them.Fishing spots are a thing. It's a new fishing mini-game.
Different spots have different fish. You can 'heart' other player's houses. I'm not sure the purpose of this, but hey, it's a new feature.Food trucks exist around the open world.

They don't do anything but give you an quick animation, but it's neat for those who end up role playing in the game. Many of the menus are different. Better organized than before. That's all I can think of at the moment.
I'll probably jump back here and add things as I discover them. Or edit things if I find I was wrong about anything.
Let me know if you find anything that I'm missing or wrong about and I'll fix it when I get a chance.EDIT: commented with things I missed.Occasionally planes will fly over the resort and drop gift boxes. These contain more (exp?) points. After completing the stamp dash, daily challenges will pop up. It looks like the stunt jumps from the wii version have been moved to here. More points!.Ghosts from other players will sometimes challenge you to minigames. These ghosts only show up in single player. The sword fighting and dancing minigames are gone. I’m not sure about any others. (Thanks!)EDIT: A couple more from.In the Wii version, a dog will bark and point if you're near the location of a secret (like a treasure chest or a trick jump spot).
They don't do this in the Switch version, possibly due to trick jump spots only being relevant as Daily Challenges. One of the treasure chests in the Snow Resort has been moved! It used to be by the hotel by the Ice Fishing minigame. It's not there any more, and I'm not sure where it got moved yet. Yeah, i’d second this opinion. I’ve probably put a good 10-15 hours into the game by now to get the Stamp Dash done, but that’s just scratching the surface of the game!.Games like Volleyball and Tennis have an option for free-movement rather than the auto-movement in the Stamp Dash, making them feel less clunky.Daily Challenges which could motivate you to try different things. Like today, mine asked to get Rank 5 on Surfing and while I think that minigame is basic (most are, but whatever), I got to Rank 4 and gave up as I got the required star for it even if I miss the Bonus Points.28 Chests to find, 7 in each resort.7(?) photograph locations to find in each resort’s time of day (each have 2).Once you do a Minigame, more features get unlocked for it most of the time. Like the Rafting only has 2 more stages to it, but the Car Race has 5 Modes to it, each with 3 stages, with one having 5 stages and one having 10.There’s a lot to do in the game and even if you just played all the stages of each game, you are looking at quite a bit of content, more than a Minigame Collection should have and I think the game gets a bad rap.But I would say it’s a game you should buy, but keep a receipt in case you don’t like it.
It’s not a game for everyone and even if you had one person to play with, I feel it would be a bit better, especially with Golf and Tennis as those are always decent to pick-up and play.
Go Vacation has launched on the Nintendo Switch as the Wii Sports-like party game we've wished the system had. Though technically an HD port from the Wii, the game is seeing a second life on a system that seems like it was made for motion controlled local multiplayer goofiness.
Over 50 games and four massive areas to explore to unlock them might seem like a lot for a relaxing vacation game, though. Take it step by step--here's how to get started with Go Vacation.
What is Go Vacation?
Go Vacation is a port of a 2011 game for the Wii that's been upped to HD for the Nintendo Switch with a few other extras thrown in. The game is very reminiscent of Wii Sports in that it has a bunch of Miis playing minigames. Unlike Wii Sports, however, the games are largely more shallow in gameplay terms, but there are also far more of them. Go Vacation has over 50 games to discover and choose from across the island of Kawawii.
The premise is that you and up to three friends have traveled to the paradise resort of Kawawii and can participate in these activities as you discover them. You can play alone, or have friends and family drop in and out.
How do I play?
Go Vacation consists of four overworlds, each with a different theme and activities: Marine, City, Snow, and Mountain. To start, you'll need to explore each area and happen upon a game to play it. Most games are played simply with either motion controls or simple button presses, and though they all have their own separate controls, you'll be taught the easy set-up for each game, so never fear not knowing what to do.
While exploring, you'll also run across different characters you can talk to, hidden secrets, and sometimes animals you can photograph for a collection. Rewards for thorough explorers include neat items and clothing bits you can use to bedeck your Mii character or decorate a house you have at the hub of the island. You can also select a dog friend, with different breeds unlockable through daily rewards.
Your guide, Lilly, will recommend activities for you to try, but don't feel obligated to follow her recommendations. You'll get to all the activities eventually one way or another.
What are all the different activities in Go Vacation?
There are over 50 sports in Go Vacation, but they aren't all available immediately. You need to explore each area on your own to find the activities before they'll be directly accessible from the menu, and a few hours after the game is out, we're still working on finding them all! The good news is that means there is a ton to do in this game, and if you're inviting friends over to join you, there will be new things to do across multiple get-togethers.
Here are a few of the activities we found:
City
- Motor fest
- Dance
- Wheel slider
- Glass harp
- Pie throwing
- Table hockey
- Hang-gliding
- Mini Golf
- Sword fighting
- Ace pitcher
Marine
- Marine bike races
- Sky diving
- Beach volleyball
- ATV race
- Scuba diving
- Surfing
- Water gun battle
- Marine fishing

Snow
- Snowball fight
- Dogsledding
- Snow races
- Snowmobile races
- Ski jump
- Snow tricks
- Snow tubing
- Snowman making
Mountain
- Horseback riding
- Rifle shooting
- Kayaking
- Tennis
- Rafting
- Car racing
- Mountain fishing
How does multiplayer work?
You can play Go Vacation by yourself, but the game is best with up to three others joining the game locally with Joy-Con controllers on one system, or you can use local wireless with multiple systems. You can use normal or motion controls (which vary, depending on the game).
What are the goals/rewards?
Go Vacation is very reminiscent of Wii Sports in that everything is largely just for fun--there's no story or endgame to follow up on. However, you'll want to pop your head into the game regularly to keep finishing challenges (appearing across the island and swapping daily), finding hidden secrets, and earning rewards to decorate your Mii, dog, and house with. Other than that, it's all about winning against your friends and having a relaxing, fun vacation.
When can I finally relax?
Go Vacation is out now for Nintendo Switch, and costs $49.99.
